A mechanism for the body without organs to exist, a way for us to shatter the status quo. The status quo is the delineation of the artist and the art work, the artwork and the viewer. Why do we want to do this? The need to inculcate and imbibe the culture of openness, the possibility of offering multiple possibilities to a way of life that exists within and outside this status quo. The duality of such an experience is what we desire. Is what we wish to do. It is what makes NYHA a collective without a unified body, space or geographical location. There are no boundaries to how and where we work, there are no lines drawn between the artists and the viewers. Ask yourself this – What if you walked into an exhibition and became the exhibition itself? Ponder over the convoluted notion of the idea. If it is confusing, we have begun to exist. We are only a collective bound by our minds, minds which we cannot detach from the bodies, but we exist outside of it in any form. As a physical show, an online exhibition, an Instagram story, a twitter hashtag, as a phone number, a website, a postcode or none of it. We are everyone and everything always. We are an event, we are the happening. We also make these statements in the foolish hope that we understand what any of this means. We do not. Or maybe we do. But we sure as hell intend to go through the experience with everyone. With artists that we work with, with spaces and people, with theories and issues. The collective WE begins to disintegrate as we assume one identity. Or no identity at all. Don’t bother with the pronouns, it is irrelevant. The status quo becomes our enemy. A state of permanence is an uncomfortable position to be in. We don’t know better. We are NOTHING. Our name is meant to start a conversation like an itch at the back of your mind that refuses to leave. Or not do anything. We are the in-between. We exist just before we happen or after. of Art Schools, especially with universities behaving like corporations that make limited promises and deliver even less, Now You Have Authority (NYHA) will conduct a series of workshops at TATE Exchange. The workshops begin with a computer interface playing the role of a tutor/workshop leader directing the participants towards performing a range of activities with&nbsp;various corporate produced, consumerist&nbsp;objects placed in the space (e.g. - Coffee Cups, chips boxes etc.). The interface&nbsp;is intended to encourage adults as well as children to take part in the activities with the specific intention of breaking down the barriers of age regulated art education. Set within the context of a reputable&nbsp;Art Institution (TATE) and using icons of everyday consumerist objects, the participants are encouraged to re-appropriate them and then perform the ubiquitous&nbsp;act of sharing their creation on social media. These creations then serve as the new set of raw materials for the next group of participants to repeat the actions albeit with their own creative take on the objects. This act of recycling the objects and the notion of repetition highlight the excesses of the art school environment when it behaves like a corporation. Students are now considered consumers of a product (the product being “art education”) and are encouraged to swallow the rhetoric whilst being promised a ‘free environment’ to make their art. The works created by the participants remain “complete” only as a digital artefact within the realm of Instagram thereby indulging them in the act of instant gratification in the era of doing things Katrin Elmer and dance artist Irène Wernli endeavour turning NINES into a playground and performance gallery to explore the meeting points of their and their collaborators' practises.Inspired by patterns of rhythm and in response to Copeland Park’s environment and existing communities, they will deploy their creation process and build-up to a Performance Installation, creating danced sound-loops, mapped video projections and music-inspired drawings. With a focus on the interplay of Music, Movement and New Visual Media, the TAKEOVER will host a public movement and music jam, a discussion, non-verbal encounters and a participatory live music and drawing event, examining rhythm within the arts more widely. Featuring pop-up performances, the final exhibition will be open for several hours, allowing visitors to roam freely within the altered space.
